        Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu , born in Lefkosa, 1953. Graduated from the University of Arizona,  Department of International Relations, 1981.
    
        Began his career in 1983, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defence. Served at  the TRNC Representative’s Office in London during 1986-1991. From 1991 to 1994, served as Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister. During the DP-CTP  coalition government (1994-1996) he was an advisor to the Prime Ministry, as well as serving as the Chairman of a local sports club, YAK (Yenicami Ağdelen Kulübü), where he once was a football player.
  
       Participated in a one-year Humphrey Fellowship Programme on Public Administration in the University of Minnesota (USA), 1995-96.
       
       In 1996, he was re-appointed as Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister, and he served until the 1998 Parliamentary Elections. During this period, he was a member of the Administrative Board of State-run Bayrak Radio and Television (BRTK), and also served as the Chairman of the same Board.

Tahsin ERTUGRULOĞLU
 
 

 

  

    Elected as Member of Parliament (MP) from Lefkosa Electoral District on December 6, 1998, from the National Unity Party (UBP). Appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence in the UBP-TKP coalition government  (1999-2001) ; maintaining the same portfolio in the UBP-DP coalition (2001-2003).

   He was re-elected as Lefkosa MP in the successive Parliamentary elections of 2003 and 2005.

      He was elected as the President of UBP at the XVI. Congress, Dec. 2006.

     Mr. Ertuğruloğlu is married and has two daughters. He speaks English.
